The Gulf Coast

SSP has received several requests that members journey on behalf of the land, sea, and animal and fish life in the portions of the Gulf Coast affected by the oil spill.  If you do so and feel inclined, please post a comment about your efforts.  — Bonnie

I  wanted to share what came through in my journey to the spirits of the Earth. Humans have to wean themselves from petroleum, plastics are unnecessary, put food and drink in glass containers.  Ask the spirits of the wind and waters to push oil out to sea where it can be retrieved. This ( environmental crisis?)  was created by the hand of man and man must decide how to live here or be the last. What is sent out will come back.  Small actions make a large difference in what is seen and what is not seen.  The decision to change will start this process of reclamation.

The oil blowout is the type of situation I hope “Shamanism Without Borders” can address. Meanwhile, it’s encouraging to see many people are moved to take action on their own. The blog of Rose de Dan, http://wildreiki.wordpress.com/, listed on 5/4 some suggestions for shamanic and Reiki practitioners, as well as a process from Mary Getten, author of Communicating with Orcas, for contacting nature devas in the Gulf. Anyone can do this. My experience with contacting the nature devas for the first time yesterday was that they seemed a bit stunned. I plan to continue this daily and hope to strengthen the connections.

I just wanted to let everyone know that people in my FSS 3-Year program (2009 graduates) and others have joined together in a working Shamans without Borders group in response to the Gulf oil leak. Organized by Sarah Finlay, the group keeps in touch via email and Facebook. We share journeys and inspiration. I think there are more than 30 of us (including Nan Moss and David Corbin). Peter Clark set up a Facebook account for the group. Here it is:

I think that knowing that we are all working together, and sharing our discoveries and insights, has amped up the power of our individual effort. If I am not mistaken, the whole idea of “Shamans without Borders” originated with SSP. It has a life of its own now. Thank you for bringing it to us… and we look forward to what comes out of the conference.

    with gratitude, Cindy O’Connor
